129 Josie was 9 when she came to America. She left Yankton, SD for Silver Lake, MN in 1894 and was married May 1, 1894 to Joseph Svihel. They made their home on the farm in Hale Township, Hutchinson, MN (later owned by their son Albin). They reared

136 Margaret M. Gengler Caledonia, Minn. Margaret M. Gengler, 93, of Caledonia died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. She was born Dec. 20, 1909, in Caledonia, to John Peter and Mary (Eckert) Gengler. Margaret worked as a secretary in the Houston County (Minn.) Courthouse, then she lived and worked as a housekeeper with her brother, Msgr. John Gengler throughout the Diocese of Winona, Minn. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her half-brothers and sister, Albin, Joseph, Izzie, Leonard, Anthony and Rosina; and her full brothers, Ferdinand and Msgr. John Peter Gengler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father James McCauley will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church Tuesday. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.

Her legal name at birth is Margaret Barbara and she changed her name to Margaret M.
