162 When Mary was about 13 years old, she walked to Vienna to work for a stone mason ("cement contractor") for 7 years. She layed paving blocks to make the streets. She took the train home. Her father was a brick layer and was killed in Vienna by a
falling "brick" (stone block). Her mother took turns living with Barbara and Mary after they were married. [from Mary Neumann, based on Frank Had's recollections]
